Introduction: Hypertension is one of the most important non communicable diseases. Hypertension is often asymptomatic but can be easily diagnosed. If left untreated can lead to fatal complications.This study was designed to investigate the factors associated with Hypertension of over 30 year’s old rural population in Islamabad Gharb.

Methods: This cross sectional study conducted on 320 hypertensive cases which selected randomly. Data was collected by a questionnaire that its validity was confirmed by experts. Its reliability was verified in pilot study. Data was analyzed by spss18 soft ware and appropriate tests such as chi- square and t-test.

Results: Of 320 patients, 109 (%34) were male and 211 (%66) were female.

%81 of male and %82 of female were illiterate. %78 of studied population stated that they Consumes too much salt. Consumption of fish was very low but consumption of fruit and Vegetables was good (%96). Family histors of Hypertension in %74 of cases was positive. Frequency of Diabetes in patients was %12 and in women was 3 times more than men.

About %15 of men and %23 of women reported Hyperlipidemia and %8 of men and %13 of women reported renal disease.

Conclusion: In studied population Consumption of fish was very low and Consumption of salt was too much. Screening and face to face education of population is recommended for control of Hypertension in this area.
