Introduction: Due to the climate changes and reduction of energy resources, the human-made environment and buildings should be more sustainable and use less levels of energy. In this regard, optimizing energy consumption and utilizing sustainable architecture approaches, especially in schools, can do a great help to the growth and development. The aim of the present study was to evaluate elementary schools in district three of Tehran based on indicators of sustainable schools.
Methods: This descriptive-cross sectional study included all elementary state schools in district three of Tehran in 2018. In this way, 28 schools were evaluated. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire containing 14 sub-criteria in terms of engineering-architectural and behavioral criteria. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests by SPSS 23.
Results: Findings of the research showed that most (82.1%) elementary schools of district three of Tehran are second-grade green schools and only 17.9% are first-grade. No significant relationships were found between the school officials’ concern about environmental issues with the school’s sustainability score.
Conclusion: Elementary schools in district three of Tehran are at a relatively desired status based on the indicators of sustainability, but given the importance of designing ecosystem-compatible educational spaces, more attention should be paid to the design of schools based on the sustainability index.

Introduction: Internet addiction is a global phenomenon with an increasing trend in university students. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and factors affecting internet addiction in externship and internship medical students of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2018.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on externship and internship medical students of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2018 during a 6-month period using convenience sampling method. In this study, the valid and reliable self-administered questionnaire of “Kimberly-Young internet addiction questionnaire” was used to collect the research data. The attainable scores in this questionnaire range from 20 to 100, so that higher scores show greater dependence on the Internet. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 20 using the Chi-square test. A significant level was set at lower than 0.05.
Results: Among the participants, 46 participants (18.4%) were normal users, 127 (50.8%) were at risk, and 77 (30.8%) were addicted to the Internet. Among the demographic factors, a significant relationship was found between gender (p = 0.041) and educational level (p = 0.024) with Internet addiction.
Conclusion: policymakers should pay particular attention to the issue of Internet addiction in medical students, since Internet addiction may cause these students to neglect their critical duties during externship and internship. In this regard, holding effective training courses can be helpful.

Introduction: Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers with an increasing global rate. In preventing this disease, the most basic measure is sun protection behaviors. Given the importance of health for medical students as health ambassadors, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of extended parallel process model on the skin cancer preventive behaviors in Yazd students.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 280 students of Yazd universities in 2019. The participants were selected using the random sampling method. A questionnaire based on the extended parallel processes model was used to collect the information. After entering SPSS 18 software, the data were analyzed using appropriate parametric statistical tests including independent t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation, and linear regression at the significance level of 0.05.
Results: The participants’ mean age and standard deviation was 22.69±3.18 years within the range of 18 to 41 years. Among the participants, 62.5% were women. Application of hats and sunscreen was 15.7% and 30.9%, respectively. According to the findings, the perceived severity structural had the highest score among the model structures. Among the constructs of model, self-efficacy was the strongest predictor of behavioral intention (β = 0.376) and preventive behaviors of skin cancer (β = 0.109).
Conclusion: Due to the low level of protective behaviors and self-efficacy perceived construct, as the most effective factors on the preventive behaviors of skin cancer, it is recommended to consider educational interventions in this regard.

Introduction: Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. In the present study, the expression level of glycine N-methyl transferase gene (GNMT) was investigated in prostate cancer tissue. The GNMT enzyme is encoded by the GNMT gene. Increased GNMT gene expression increases the conversion of glycine to sarcosine and results in the elevated levels of sarcosine in blood and urine.
Methods: The expression level of GNMT gene in tissue samples of patients with prostate cancer was compared with those with benign prostatic hyperplasia using Real-Time PCR technique.
Results: The GNMT gene expression level increased significantly in prostate cancer patients compared with those with benign prostatic hyperplasia (p-value <0.001). In addition, the expression level of GNMT gene was stage-dependent and significant increases were observed in all stages of prostate cancer compared with those with benign prostatic hyperplasia (p-value <0.001).
Conclusion: The concentration of sarcosine is controlled by GNMT and it seems that increasing the expression level of GNMT gene increases the level of sarcosine concentration. Thus, it appears that increased levels of GNMT expression occur in the early stages of prostate cancer. Therefore, periodic measurement of GNMT expression levels can detect prostate cancer before it forms a cancer cell and invades other tissues.

Introduction: Despite the advances in cardiovascular diseases, death caused by these diseases is still considered as the leading cause of mortality. In this study, some of the effective factors on the deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases were investigated
Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study investigated the efficacy of Poisson regression models and negative binomial regression models on factors affecting mortality from cardiovascular diseases. The death data were extracted from the death registration system for Yazd province in 2017.Gender, age, education, occupation, location, and city of death were also extracted for each deceased. The two regression models were then fitted to the data
Results: A total of 5,015 deaths were recorded, of which 1,642 were due to cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular disease mortality rates were significant using negative binomial regression in terms of the educational variables, place of residence, type of residence, and age. Death rates caused by cardiovascular diseases were not significant for age and occupational, educational, and residential variables.
Conclusion: If the time of death is considered as an offset variable, the regression model of two negative sentences is more effective in showing the factors affecting death due to cardiovascular diseases according to AIC and BIC criteria. In the case that the total number of deaths is considered as the offset variable, the Poisson regression model is more efficient.

Introduction: Recently, positive thinking and having a hopeful outlook on life have been considered as one of the most effective treatments for mental illness, especially hopelessness and depression among Western psychologists and humanities scientists. In this regard, monotheistic integrated treatment showed a good effect. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the Quranic-narrative model of hope therapy with the approach of integrated monotheistic treatment on the life expectancy of students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd.
Method: In this quasi-experimental study, a sample of 30 people was selected from all students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd by convenience sampling. The participants were divided into two groups randomly (each group had 15 members). The group-counseling course was conducted in 5 sessions for the experimental group. To collect the data, Islamic Hope Scale of the Khalilian Shalamzari, Jandaghi, and Pasandideh (2013) was used. Data were analyzed using multivariate covariance test.
Results: The Quranic-narrative model of hope therapy using the integrated monotheistic treatment approach (in the form of group counseling) can be an effective treatment method on the life expectancy of students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd.
Conclusion: The effect size coefficient showed that 89% of the difference between the experimental and control groups was related to the experimental intervention (P <0.000). The value of F indicated that the dimensions of life expectancy (purpose, effort, means, support, barriers to hope, relationship between person and support, and solution) increased in the experimental group at the significant level of α=0.05.

Introduction: Menopause can have negative effects on the quality of life of postmenopausal women.
The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of life of post-menopausal women in Yazd City, Iran.
Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 250 postmenopausal women over 50 years of age in Yazd. The standard SF-36 quality of life questionnaire was used to collect the data. The mean score of quality of life was calculated for the postmenopausal women in different domains based on their age, education, menopausal age, and number of children. Furthermore, the effect of participants’ age, education, menopausal age, and number of children was studied on the questionnaire domains and the mean menopausal age.
Results: The participants’ mean age was 62±5/198 years and the mean age of menopause was 54±4/419years. Life expectancy had a significant relationship with education variables, BMI, and number of children, but it had no significant relationship with occupation and age at menopause. The variables of education, employment, and BMI had a direct and significant relationship with the mean age of menopause, but the number of children did not show a significant relationship with the mean age of menopause.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, postmenopausal women were at an undesirable level in terms of physical health and social vitality. The information collected through this study can help the authorities to plan appropriate programs and take measures to improve the quality of life in these women.
