title = {Nickel Removal from Synthetic Nuclear- Power- Plant Coolant Water by Iron Oxide Nanoparticles},
abstract ={ Background: The primary coolant is an essential cooling medium used to control heat in a nuclear power plant. During the oxidation process, Nickel may be released in the primary coolant which increases its contamination. The operational problems and high cost of treatment necessitate the research for some newer methods. The aim of this research is investigation of nickel removal from synthetic nuclear-power-plant by using iron oxide nanoparticles and the effective parameters. methods : In this research, zerovalent iron nanoparticles was converted to Iron oxide nanoparticles and its efficiency for Ni(II) ion removal in synthetic coolant water batch system was studied. Also the impact of effective parameters including iron oxide nanoparticles concentration, solution pH, and agitation time were investigated and absorption isotherm and kinetic model reaction were determined. Results: STM images indicate that the particles size is lass than 40 nm. The complete removal was in primary pH of the solution, t=4h, and C=40g/l. In alkaline pH, t=4h, C=1g/l were obtained with maximum removal. Ni(II) absorption at absorbent C= 35g/L and pH = 2.71 obeys Langmuir isotherm and the kinetic reaction is peso-second-order. Conclusion: The results of the study show that increasing pH in alkaline condition, hightens removal efficiency. The reason is that when the pH of the solution is above the isoelectric point, the oxide surface becomes negatively charged and can form surface complexes with cations (e.g., metal ions). In optimal condition, iron oxide nanoparticles have the potential of purifying coolant water.},

title = {Epidemiologic Survey of Animal Bites and Causes of Delay in Getting Preventive Treatment in Tabbas during 2005-2010},
abstract ={ Background: Rabies is one of the fatal diseases in human and other mammals. With regard to lack of full control of the disease in wild and domesticated animals, There is stillt the possibility of incidence of the disease in our country. The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiology and causes of delays in getting treatment for rabies and animal bites in the city of Tabas during 2005-2010. Method: The present research is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which, the existing information for 480 bitten subjects referring to Tabas rabies units during 2005-2010 was used. Patient-related factors, factors related to location, factor related to the time of being bitten, the wound status as well as bite status were studied. The descriptive statistics, including descriptive indicator was used to analyze the data, and the logistic regression analysis was used to measure the effect of considered variables on delay in receiving preventive treatment of rabies. The analysis was performed using SPSS version 18. Result : Out of 480 bitten persons, 413 individuals (86%) were male and others 67 (14%) were female. Totally 54.6% (262 cases) of animal-bite incidents were in the city and 45.4% (218) had experienced it in the rural areas. The cases were mostly related to dog bites (63.1%) and cat bites (27.3%) respectively. Most bites had occured for 107 students (22.3%) and 98 (20.4%) for others. Mean and standard deviation of delay time in receiving the anti-rabies vaccines was 6.5±1.5 hours. The most offective factors in delaying or notdelaying were age (OR = 0.98, CI: 0.74-0.99), time of accident (OR = 1.06, 1.01-1.12), bite of the lower extremities (OR = 5.31, CI: 3.8-6.33), history of vaccination (OR = 0.39, CI: 0.21-0.68), having primary care recommended for the injury (OR = 6.75, CI: 4.4-8.8) and animal type (OR = 4.17, CI: 3.34-6.5). Conclusion: Regarding the relatively high incidence of animal bites in this county, the necessity of controlling animals such as dogs and cats through training vulnerable individuals such as adolescents as well as animal owners and intersectional coordination to eliminate the straying animals should be more considered. Because of the imposed cost sustained by health system care for any bite, the preventive measure should be considered as priority. },

title = {The Effects of UV C Light and Cornex for Disinfection of Surfaces in Yazd Shahid Sadughi Burn Center},
abstract ={ Background: To control the spread of pathogens in hospital environments, good hygienic routines are required to disinfect surfaces contaminated with biological materials. Chemicals have traditionally been used to disinfect surfaces during final room disinfection. However, chemical disinfection is both time- and labor-consuming, and it might be harmful for staff and the environment. The search for more environmentally friendly and healthier methods has therefore been under way for many years. UVC light (200-280 nm) has germicidal effect on microorganisms in water, on surface, and in air. However, its lethal dose for various microbes is different. In this study, the dose of UVC lamps (wavelength 254 nm) in hospital operating rooms of Shahid Sadughi Burn Center were measured and its disinfectant strength was compared with a standard chemical disinfectants (Cornex). Method: In this cross-sectional descriptive study at first the UVC irradiance levels were measured after 14 houres light exposure at the outset. The distance between the measurement locations was 50 Cm and the radiometer was put on the 80 Cm height of the floor. In addition the UVC irradiance levels were measured in 15 other sites including surfaces on the table, bed, door handle, inside the rack etc. Microbial samples were obtained from surfaces in isolated units before and after standard hospital environmental cleaning, irradiation with UVC and cornex disinfection. Samples were collected using standard contact plates and were compared together . Result: The results of this study showed that the UVC detected dose was 0-37951 j/m2. Also the results showed that UVC markedly reduced the number of bacteria on surfaces in operating rooms, from a mean of 64.80 cfu per sample to 41.67 cfu per sample after UVC disinfection and to 16.53 cfu per sample after additional cornex disinfection. So the use of UVC and of cornex disinfection alone or in different combinations significantly reduced the amount of surface contamination (P< .001 for both) Conclusion: According to the results obtained, the detected dose in about half part of the locations was almost 0 j/m2, while in the places near to the lamps the detected dose was higher than the required dose for resistant virus inactivation due to long time exposure. Therefore it is concluded that the number, locations of the UVC lamps, and also the exposure time should be changed according to the standard dose for all parts of the room. On the other hand, UVC is not suitable and efficient disinfectant for the sites that are in shadow. There fore, these places must be disinfected by a combination of UVC and chemical disinfectants. },

abstract ={ Background: Lack of nutritional knowledge and subsequently inadequate practice causes health problems such as malnutrition and communicable diseases. Few studies have compared the effect of educational methods on knowledge, attitude and nutritional indices of women. This study there fore was carried out with the aim of comparing the effect of peer education and education by health personnel on knowledge, attitude and nutritional indices of women. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 108 women who had referred to Orumieh health care centers were investigated. Out of all health care centers of Orumieh, 4 were selected randomly two of which were assigned for peer education and the two others for by-personnel education. In each health care centers, 27 women aged 18-35 were entered in the study randomly. A valid and reliable questionnaire was used for data collection. First a pretest was conducted for both groups. In peer education group, two of the participants who obtained the highest scores were selected as peer educators. Both groups received 4 two-hour-education sessions. Six weeks after education sessions,a post test was performed. Data were analyzed using independent T-test and paired T-test. Results: Before intervention, the mean score of knowledge, attitude, GDI, FCI, and MCI, was 25.48, 6.68, 7.77, 5.38 and 2.11 in personnel education group and 30.38, 8.20, 7.78, 5.75 and 2.33 in peer education group respectively. After education these scores were, 31.83, 8.88, 7.25, 4.9 and 2 in personnel education group and 34.4, 15.4, 5.33, 3.62 and .85 in peer education group respectively. There was a significant difference in mean scores of knowledge, attitude and nutritional indices in both groups. The mean score of knowledge was increased significantly higher in personnel education group but, the other variables proved significantly higher in peer education group. Conclusion: The higher increase of knowledge score in personnel group indicates the weakness of peers in presenting scientific and theory subjects, but they are more sufficient in increasing attitude and practices, so applying this method in nutrition education is recommended.},

abstract ={ Background : Waste is a permanent part of human life. Urban development, increasing use of irresolvable materials and many other achievements of machine life have com to raise one of the main concerns of urban environmental management, that is waste disposal. Waste management in different qualities and quantities is the most important environmental problem. Method: The aim of the current study was to determine the Shiraz environmental landfill waste by using hierarchical analysis, fuzzy logic and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques using Expert Choice software . At First, important factors in site selection for solid waste were identified. Then, nineteen layers were digitized and weighted on the basis of the existing standards. The Last ratio that has to be calculated is CR (Consistency Ratio). Generally, if CR is less than 0.1, the judgments are consistent, so the derived weights can be used. Result: In this study, using data such as the legal limits of the city, distance from roads, land airport, land use, land capability, artifact effects (rural, urban facilities and equipment, mining ,...), fault, the physical development of the city, surface water, wind direction, population density, soil type, Hypsometric (height floor), slope, vegetation coverage, land types, geology,by different models and maps based on fuzzy logic were used to combine these data. Conclusion: After georefrencing the data and models with satellite images a region with 272 hectares in the north of shiraz (19 km away ) with capacity of receiving waste more than 1000 ton per day for 15 yeare, was selected as waste disposal site. },

title = {Ways to Control Moral Hazard in Health System: Demand-side and Supply-side Interventions (review article)},
abstract ={ Background: Moral hazard is referred to behavior change of service-provider (physician) and service-consumer (patient) as the result of insurance. It is a serious concern for health insurance and insurance policies market in the health system reforms. Moral hazard usually leads to such unpleasant consequences as welfare loss, increasing health expenditures, decrease of insurance coverage, unnecessary use of resources, decrease of risk pooling benefits, as well as decrease in allocation and technical efficiency. There fore, in this review article, we want to describe the appropriate policy interventions to prevent moral hazard of consumers and healthcare providers. Method: This is a review article. The related articles were taken from sound sites and reliable published texts. The databases such as Medline,Web of Science, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Springer were explored based on appropriate key words used in current methods for moral hazard control in supply side and demand side. Result: Demand policies only affect service demand on the part of patient, and do not impede extra service delivering on the part of service provider. So, more effort is needed from supply policies to monitor the use of extra services. In terms of demand aspect, such methods such as franchise, co-payment, waiting list, and encouragement for non-utilization are being used, while in terms of supply aspct, strategies like financial incentive and payment methods (fee-for-service, global payment), reform of source-providing system structures and behavior interventions (exclusive referring and gate-keeping, use of clinical-guidelines), and prospective supervision on use rate are being basically employed. Conclusion: Different methods used to control moral hazards may prevent source waste, unnecessary services delivering, and misallocation of resources through preventing low-value consumptions. As a result, efficiency can be promoted and health expenditures can also be controlled.},

abstract ={ Background: The first permanent molar is the biggest permanent tooth having the most important role in chewing, preservation of vertical height of the jaws and esthetics. On the other hand, because of it's special anatomic form, early eruption, lack of mother’s awareness about it’s eruption and misidentifying it from primary teeth, this tooth is very susceptible to caries. Its caries is an indicator for predicting caries susceptibility in the other teeth. The aim of this study was to indicate the prevalence of DMFT in first permanent molar among primary school children in Yazd. Methods: In this study, students of totally 6 public and private schools were selected randomly and first the molar tooth of 15 students from each level was examined and DMFT was recorded. Data were then analyzed by SPSS software, ANOVA and t-Test. Results: The least DMFT was identified in 7-year-old students (0.36 ± 0.92) and the highest rate was seen in 11-year-students (1.17 ± 1.26). There was a significant relationship between DMFT and age (P< 0.0001). - Among D,M and F, maximum mean was related to F or filled teeth and minimum was related to M or extracted teeth. - DMFT in girls (1.15 ± 1.33) was higher than boys (0.51% ± 0.88) (P<0.0001). - DMFT among students with lower economical status was significantly higher than those with better economical condition. Conclusion:Increasing DMFT of first permanent molar during 3-4 years after eruption demands attention to early oral education, prevention and treatment of it. },

title = {Evaluation of the Different Fenton Processes Combined with Coagulation- Flocculation Pretreatment in Landfill Leachate Treatment},
abstract ={ Background: Advanced oxidation processes such as Fenton and photo-Fenton that have been applied effectively to oxide the persistent organic compounds in leachate and converts them to unharmful materials and final products. However, there are a few data about application of Fenton-like process in leachate treatment. Therefore, the aim of this study was to treat the municipal landfill leachate by above processes.. Methods: This study was an experimental study that was conducted with set up a pilot system. The used leachate collected from a municipal unsanitary landfill of Qaem-shahr city that located in Mazandaran province. All examinations and samples were analyzed according to Stndard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater. Results: The results showed that the conventional coagulation & flocculation process with chloride ferric removed about 45% of COD in optimum conditions. The combining of pretratment with AOPs significantly increased removal efficiency so that the removal efficiency COD for Fenton, photo-Fenton and modified fenton processes was 89, 85.45 and 81.82 percent in the same conditions, respectively. After all processes, the biodegradability (BOD5/COD ratio) of treated leachate compared to raw leachate was increased and the highest increasing of BOD5/COD ratio was in the photo-Fenton process. Conclusion: The efficiency of the Fenton-like process is less than Fenton and photo-Fenton processes. Instead, the Fenton-like process was done at the higher pH and will not have these problems.},

title = {Comparative Investigation of 2-Chlorophenol and 4-Chrorophenol Removal Using Granulated Activated Carbon and Rice Husk Ash},
abstract ={ Background : Industrial wastewaters contain organic pollutant such as dyes, halogenated hydrocarbon, phenolic compounds and so on Rice husk is a cheap material which is new available in our country. The aim of this study is removal efficiency comparing rice husk ash performance with commercial granulated activated carbon in removal of 2-CP and 4-CP from aqueous solutions. Methods : Experiments were carried out in dual laboratory-bench scale to evaluate the effect of f actors including adsorbent dosage, pH, equilibration time and phenolic compound concentration regarding the effect of selected pollutant adsorption for removing this phenolic compound and comparing these methods. Spectrophotometeric measurements were carried on in wave lengths of 274 and 280 nm for 2-chlorophenol and 4-chlorophenol respectively. The adsorption parameters were determined using both of isotherm and kinetic models. Results: The Results showed that the activated carbon efficiency for selected compounds was rather more than rice husk ash. However rice huck ash (RHA) efficiency for these compounds was comparable with activated carbon. It was shown that a rapid equilibration could be achieved at pHs as low as 5 and 7 for RHA and GAC, respectively. The adsorption efficiency decreased with increasing the initial phenolic concentration and decreased with decreasing the adsorbent dosage. The adsorption isotherm studies clearly indicated that the adsorption process is on surface of RHA and fits into the Freundlich model. Also GAC adsorption isotherm for 2-Chorophenol fit into the Langmuir isotherm and for 4-chlorophenol fit into Freundlich model. The applicability of Ritchie, pseudo first order and pseudo secound order kinetic model was also been investigated. It was indicated that both methods were correlated with pesoudo secound order kinethic model. Conclusion : Activated carbon and RHA exhibit reasonable adsorption capacity for the phenolic compounds and as to the results, RHA was found to be a useful agricultural waste product for the removal of some phenolic compounds. },

title = {The Evaluation of Efficiency of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Humic Acid Adsorption in Acidic Conditions From Aqueous Solution},
abstract ={ Background : The presence of humic acid in water resources is the most health problems of many communities. In recent years, various methods have been focused on for decreasing or removing humic acid that is in water resources and is one of the Trihalomethanes (THMs) precursors. The aim of this study is investigation the use of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) as adsorbent at humic acid adsorption process in acidic conditions from aqueous solution. Methods : This experimental study was done in batch system to investigate the effects of Variations such as contact time, humic acid concentration and dose of nanotubes in removal of humic acid. In this study, humic acid concentration was determined during various steps of research using UV-vis spectrophotometer at 254 nm. Results : The Results of this study showed that maximum surface adsorption of humic acid onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes was 31.37 mg/gr and maximum adsorption had occurred at acidic pH (pH = 4). This study also had determined that appropriate time for receiving maximum adsorption of humic acid and equalization state is 3 hours. By increasing the adsorbent dose from 0.04 to 0.08 gr per 100 ml, removal efficiency of humic acid solution with 20 mg/l initial concentration increased from 93.5 to 96.8 %. By decreasing humic acidinitial concentration from 30 to 5 mg/l, removal efficiency increased from 91.5 to 96.9 % at pH=4 after 3 hours. Conclusion : This adsorbent could be effective for removal of humic acid due to small size, large surface area, crystal shape and exclusive network arrangement and consequently very high reactivity and noticeable performance of multi-walled carbon nanotubes as adsorbent in removal of organic pollutants from aqueous solution. },

abstract ={ Background: Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is one of the new hybrids biological systems that are used in treatment of wastewater contaminated by organic and nitrogen pollutant. In this study, the continuously operated laboratory scale Kaldnes(k1) moving bed biofilm reactors (MBBRs) was investigated. Methods: In this system, two series as Anoxic reactor (R1) and aerobic (R2) have a size 3.5 and 10 liters, respectively. This system was operated at temperature 28.5 oC , pH=7-8, DO= 1-1.5 mg/l and internal recycle ratio in continuously. All tests based on the standard methods were performed. The Anoxic and Aerobic reactors were filled to 40 and 50 %( v/v) to attach and retain biomass with k1 biofilm carriers, respectively. Statistical analysis software was SPSS and EXCEL. Results: During operation, the average dissolved oxygen in the aerobic reactor was 1-1.5 mg/l. The average removal efficiency of soluble organic carbon (SCOD) was obtained over 95% at different load organic matter (300-2000 mg/l) in the anoxic reactor. The average removal efficiency of total nitrogen (TN) occurred in the range of 80-99.4% at different load nitrogen (25-250 mg/l) and maximum removal efficiency based on biofilm surface area occurred close 92% at loading rate of 0.127-0.181 mg-N/m2.day. The results show that nitrification rate was increased to increase loading rate of nitrogen compounds but the rate of nitrification was decreased at high loading rate. Probably this was due to an excessive accumulation of nitrite ion in the aerobic reactor. Conclusions: This investigation showed that the process of removal organic and nitrogen compounds in the MBBRs system under pre-denitrification without recycle sludge and external carbon source has an acceptable performance for treatment of wastewater with high load organic carbon and organic nitrogen compounds. },

abstract ={ Background: There is no doubt that one of the effective factors in implementation of projects that have potential hazard can cause irreversible losses. Therefore recognizing potential hazards is of paramount importance. Method: The present descriptive-analysis study was conducted at Rudbar Lorestan Dam constructional projects. For recognizing potential hazard in tunneling activities, job safety analysis (JSA) was performed according to OSHA 3071 method and for observing this purpose, the risk assessment matrix was carried out on the basis of MIL-STD-882E standard. Combination of severity and probability of each risk makes it possible to determine the risk level and the priority of control measures, qualitatively rating from 1-24. Results: Generally, a total of 232 risk factors were identified in different activities. As results show, %15.9 of recognized risks were serious, %17.3 almost serious, %38.4 medium and %28.4 were in low level. Therefore more than one-third hazards are assessed as unacceptable. Work at heights without using proper lifting, lack of equipment of tunneling treatmentolagy, delay in unstable rock mass support can be enumerated as the causative factors. Conclusion: A llocating a percentage of the budget of every construction project to provide safety and rescue equipment as well as experienced safety experts can significantly reduce the risk level. For assessment criteria, MIL-STD-882E standard was used and four indices were presented for decision making: serious, almost serious, medium, and low.},

title = {Mercury Content of Canned Tuna Fish Marketed in Iran},
abstract ={ Background: Due to discharge of industrial effluent into marine environment, background quantity of heavy metals and their bioaccumulation in marine organism's body including fish is increasing. Thus, determination of mercury content in fish consumed by human is an essential thing. Methods: In order to evaluate the mercury content of canned tuna fish marketed in Kerman, 70 canned tuna fish samples were purchased and their mercury content was determined by ICP-OES. All results were reported as µg g-1 on a wet weight basis. Results: The range obtained for 70 tuna samples analyzed in µg g-1 was from 0.1±0.07 to 0.54±0.2 µg g-1 . The mean Hg concentration in the tuna was 0.29 µg g-1. The results of this study showed that 80% of tuna samples (8 types) from the Persian Gulf have average H g level below and 20% (2 types) above the WHO/FAO recommended levels. Conclusion: The results obtained from the present study showed that most of the canned tuna fish marketed in Iran have average Hg concentration below WHO/FAO limit of 0.5 µg g-1. Two tuna samples, however, showed average concentration above the guidelines. In this respect, more attention should be paid to monitor Hg concentration of nation’s canned tuna fish and to force canned tuna industry to systematic monitoring as well as establishment of required standards for monitoring of this harmful heavy metal in foodstuffs. },

abstract ={ Background: Supplying the needed food of the world is the problem that humanity with all its power became unable. Today in most countries, soy food products have a special place in daily diets. Having relatively low price, lack of cholesterol and lactose, essential polyunsaturated fats and also decreasing the fat and cholesterol and preventing atherosclerosis are the benefits and outstanding characteristics of soy food products. The purpose of this study was evaluating the sensory characteristics of soy yogurt, especially taste and texture by adding the flavors of banana, oranges, strawberry and modified starch to improve properties of soy yogurt such as texture and flavor. Methods: This study was based on sensory evaluation of 120 students. Methodology of data collection was questionnaire. The modified starch at different concentrations (0/25, 0/75,1,1/25 percent) and accepted flavor and rate of synersis according to statistical tests of kruskalwallis and ANOVA were assessed. Result: Sensory evaluation of flavor and texture was done on seventh day of maintenance. The results showed that the highest score of acceptable texture was related to concentrations of 1- 0/75- 0/5and1/25 percent respectively. The highest score of accepted flavor was related to flavors of oranges, banana and strawberry respectively. Conclusion: using flavors in the soy yogurt causes removal of undesirable flavors and also bringing variety in products.
